Healthcare

hospitals-01.jpg

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that at any time, more than 1.4 million people worldwide are affected by infections acquired in hospitals. This is why cleaning, disinfection and sterilization saves lives and improves patient outcomes. Many infection and diseases are transmitted via air-borne pathogens and to mitigate this hospitals have adapted very stringent controls and isolation procedures. Operating theatres guidelines generally require that the theatre room pressure be maintained at an equal pressure to the entry gowning room and surrounding areas. This minimises the risk of a patient being infected during an operation or procedure. Isolations rooms exist now in most hospitals and are either negatively pressurised for use with patients with a contagious disease or positively pressurised for patients with low immune systems. The Visio-3 provides healthcare workers with an early warning system should the pressures deviate from the norms. The integrated door-interlock feature ensures that the doors only remain open for a short period of time before going into a full alarm status.

Medical Device

cleanroom.jpg
Medical device manufacturing is carried out in controlled environments such as cleanrooms and are highly regulated to ensure that the products are of the highest quality and are completely free of any contamination. Medical devices are categorised in one of two ways: those that are inserted permanently into the body such as pacemakers, stents etc and those that temporarily come into contact with the human body such as needles, bandages and surgical instruments. Cleanrooms for medical device manufacturing must be positively pressurised relative to the access hatches, gowning rooms and airlocks to ensure that the required dust particle count is maintained. Accurate monitoring of these room pressures is required from a GMP perspective and also required by many of the regulatory bodies such as the FDA or medicine board. The Visio-3 is available for flush-mounting with a stainless steel bezel  and can be easily retrofitted into any such cleanroom to give all personnel a visual status of the room pressures. Cleanroom temperature is also critical to ensure a comfortable working environment and can also be critical for some process's.

Data Centres

Over the last decade, there has been monumental advances in technology and an increased reliance on the internet, social media and cloud storage. The 'Data Centre' market sector is one of the fastest growing in the world with over eight million installations worldwide. They are deemed critical for business operations and a downtime cost of 300,000 dollars an hour has been estimated. The consequences of a power outage can impact  your business significantly in terms of lost productivity, loss of revenue, missed opportunities, and damaged reputation.

Ambient temperature is critically controlled to prevent computers overheating and rooms are often pressurised to keep dust particles down at a minimum level. The Visio range of touchscreens provide a solution that can be used to monitor these critical parameters and an easy interface for security personnel or maintenance personnel alike. The integrated dynamic alarm function ensures that staff receive a very clear unambiguous alarm message when a critical fault occurs.

Pharmaceutical

Pharmacueticals.jpg

This industry is the core sector for the creation of ingredients for the production of all medicines, and drugs on the market today. It involves complex processes using the latest technology and is heavily regulated by the medicine boards and the Federal Drug Administration (FDA). The production areas are usually classified as “ATEX” because of the highly flammable gases and liquids. This means that all the process equipment must be suitably rated for this environment so as to prevent any potential explosions or fires due to the ignition of any flammable gas, vapours or dusts. To protect the safe areas (offices & electrical switchrooms) in a production building there are airlocks installed between the safe areas and the hazardous areas which are maintained at a higher air pressure than the hazardous are. These airlocks have to be closely monitored to ensure the safety of personnel at all times. The Visio-3 provides a solution that displays realtime airlock pressure and requires no training to understand that the airlock pressure is compromised.

Electronic Manufacturing

electronics optimised.jpg

This industry has been the fastest growing for the past 50 years or more and continues to expand at an exponential rate. Many of the new generation electronic chips are extremely vulnerable to contamination and can lead to monumental failures of the components being manufactured in the cleanrooms.

Most electronic cleanrooms typically must comply with the ISO 14644-1 Class 5 or lower, which stipulates a minimum allowed particle count of 3,520 particles 0.5µm or smaller.

To ensure compliance with this standard cleanrooms are designed and built to maintain room pressure profiles as well as 20  air changes per hour. Temperature and Humidity control is also critical to electronic manufacturing to maintain product integrity.

The Visio-3 and Visio-4 touchscreens provide the cleanroom staff with real-time information on air pressures, humidity and temperature both in the cleanroom and airlocks.
